woo hoo! no more classes! & upon dragging my tired ass to school I was met with only the happiest things.
but that's not what I was going to tell you about. I was going to tell you about something I read in the newspaper (though what I was unsure), but then I thought, all these people can read the newspaper, do read the newspaper, so why would I exhaust myself with reiteration? maybe I should attempt an editorial, but the fear that I will sound more like Maureen Dowd than George Will keeps my editorial hand at bay (argument style, not ideology, meant to be reflected in this comparison).
I will say that the science news was particularly gripping this week -- an article about Asperger's syndrome, one about the Neanderthals' possible ultra-rapid growth to adulthood, and another introducing me to J. Maynard Smith, an evolutionary biologist who died this week. I find myself skipping over the war news, as it pretty much makes me want to stamp my futility feet, and move to the science news & movie reviews. you know, the stuff at either extreme end of consequentiality. or at least I think so, but I may be overestimating the consequentiality of scientific progress or underestimating the consequentiality of Hollywood.
