okay. I know catullus is known for being raunchy, but I cannot get over this one.

[note: sparrow is a euphamism for, um, netheregions]

Poem 2

Sparrow, the special delight of my girl,
whom often she teases and holds on her lap
and pokes with the tip of her finger, provoking
counterattacks with your mordant beak,
whenever my luminous love desires
something or other, innocuous fun,
a bit of escape, I suppose, from her pain,
a moment of peace from her turbulent passion,
I wish I could play like she does with you
and lighten the cares of my sorrowful soul.
It thrills me as much as the nimble girl
in the story was thrilled by the gilded apple
that finally uncinched her virginal gown.

[post note: the girl with the gilded apple was not thrilled at all. my home town was named after her].

which I suspect to be true but not necessarily a good thing. the worst of my imaginings i would never hope to see manifest, except maybe in language and this my friends is the beginning of the end of containment.

oh well.

I am a sleepy happy snow covered girl.

i'd tell ya'll about my saturday night madness, but dave barry already wrote about it in the miami herald.

sunshine and i tried to go bowling with john edwards but a few hundred other people wanted to do the same thing and aw heck the police came and made us leave. other than that, our journey to participate in New Hampshire's primary festivities was a barrel of fun. just a barrel. and now i'm so very very tired. i did a lot of jumping up and down with signs (whoever's sign -- i just liked holding them and jumping up and down) and might just have craned my neck enough to get my mug on tv. :-) that's what made me so tired i think.

so for the time being i'm a political junkie. in keeping with my shiny new but temporary identity, i tried reading my first congressional act (i picked the patriot act, since it's purported to be chock full o'excitement). it looks a lot like this:

(2) DEFINITION- Section 2510 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by--
(A) in paragraph (17), by striking `and' after the semicolon;
(B) in paragraph (18), by striking the period and inserting `; and'; and

woo hoo. rocking good time. if you can keep your vision from blurring with weariness, you do find the occasional questionable clause, or scary words like "without limitation." i don't like to think of the government doing anything "without limitation." anyway, my eyeballs hurt and i've never been much for cross referencing, so i may just hang up my pundit cap and "vote or bust" bumper sticker and return to the wide world of reality television.
