On Caffeine
Caffeine is a naturally occurring substance in certain plants such as cocoa beans, tea leaves, and kola nuts. Most caffeine is consumed in beverages -- coffee, tea, soft drinks, and chocolate. Caffeine is also an ingredient in many over the counter and prescription drugs (often equalling more than two cups of coffee's worth of caffeine!). Guarana and mate -- both herbal supplements -- also contain caffeine. Guarana may be used alone or as an ingredient in herbal products, while mate is usually brewed for tea-like beverage.

I just can't figure out what to do about this coffee situation. Quit, cut down, half-caf forever, I don't know. All I do know is that I cannot go past eleven a.m. without coffee, lest all the head pain in the world descend mercilessly upon me. And that's just unacceptable. At the doctor today for my ouch foot, I happened across one of those medical pamphlets that told me all about the substance of my addiction. I take it as a sign. But then, I take everything as a sign. They compete.
